knocked the bottle over? act fast and don't rub.
the first minute
- blot, don't wipe: press paper towel onto the spill to lift the oil
- stand the bottle up: lay the reeds on paper towel, not the bench
- open a window: a spill smells strong for a few hours, then fades
why it matters on furniture
- the carrier: our reed oil uses a bio ethanol carrier that helps it climb the reeds
- finishes: alcohol can soften lacquer, polish and some sealers if left sitting
- speed: the sooner you blot, the less chance of a mark
cleaning by surface
- timber: blot, then wipe with a cloth and a drop of dish soap in warm water, and dry
- stone and marble: blot, wash with mild soapy water and dry; ask a stone specialist about set stains
- fabric and carpet: blot from the outside in, then spot clean per the care label
- any surface: test cleaning on a hidden spot first
stop it happening again
- use a base: a tray or coaster catches drips when you flip the reeds
- flip over the sink: turn reeds with a paper towel underneath
- placement: keep the bottle off busy benches and away from pets and kids
